The foundation consists of the Traxtion database, workflow engine and basic user interface framework with status overview and administration. The foundation is configured to the customer's naming convention which it uses to interact with Agility publications and for file routing and manipulation.

Locations is another basic concept in Traxtion included in the foundation. It allows the system to process files in different production locations all connected to the same database. Users are assigned to a location which makes it possible to process and print files locally using centrally managed workflows.
