The language versioning module is a great time saver. It starts with an approved master layout document and adds requested language layers to it. For each layer the corresponding translated texts are imported from Agility. The module also sets the correct price styles (appearances) for each layer, mapping the master prices styles into their market equivalents and can optionally link an Agility price list to each layer.
The language versioning module also leverages the power of Agility layer groups. When a language layer is added to the document it is automatically grouped with its default graphics layer. Subsequent workflows involving PDF generation then only need to address the market layer group and the correct text and graphics layers will be automatically activated.
By adding several graphics layers to the documents it is possible to group some language text layers with special graphics layers. This is especially useful when the cultural requirements of a certain market demand different model images or when a specific product isn't available for sale in one or more of the markets. This means that it is possible to create layouts that are flexible enough to allow the same document to be used in more markets.
The result is a multi-layer layout document ready for review, final touch-up of individual layer boxes where necessary and subsequent proofing.
This multi-layer approach has been proven to work well in live production environments showing little or no noticeable degradation of performance in the layout application even with as many as 25 language and graphics layers present.
